ImPrim’s Third Transnational Partner Meeting in Turku

Improving public health in the Baltic Sea Region

Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS) organized 29.-30.3.2011 ImPrim’s Third Transnational Partner Meeting in Turku. 30 participants came from Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Kaliningrad (Russia) and Finland.

- In the Meeting the new Lead Partner, Blekinge Centre of Competence from Sweden, was introduced. The Meeting consisted of Project Progress Panel sessions, where the status of and plans for sub projects were introduced, describes project manager, senior lecturer Maika Kummel.

ImPrim-project goes forward

The ImPrim-project aims at promoting equitably distributed high quality Primary Health Care (PHC) services in the Baltic Sea Region in order to increase the cost-efficiency of the public health system and more efficiently counteract communicable diseases as well as health problems related to social factors. ImPrim has 12 project partners from six countries: Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, and Finland. The Ministries of Health are strongly supporting ImPrim. TUAS’s Faculty of Health care is the only project partner from Finland.

 - In the Turku Meeting project’s preliminary results were evaluated. Special thanks received Nursing training intensive course, which was organized October 2010 in Turku. During intensive course experts from TUAS and from Turku Municipal Health Care and Social Services introduced PHC system in Finland. In Turku Meeting a nursing student also collected data for his Bachelor’s thesis by interviewing PHC personnel about teamwork, describes Maika Kummel.

Expectancy toward upcoming workshop

TUAS is organizing 30.-31.5.2011 a workshop on motivational counseling and teamwork together with Klaipeda University (Lithuania). The target group of the workshop is doctors and nurses from the Baltic Sea Region. Participants are committed to organize similar seminars in their own countries. Klaipeda University continues the teamwork education with the same target group later 2011.
