How to Apply?

The application period for Bachelor`s Degrees 7 Jan – 12 Feb 2013

You can apply for:

  • Information Techlogy: Bachelor of Engineering
  • International Business: Bachelor of Administration
  • Nursing: Bachelor of Health Care

Applications are submitted through the joint application system on the internet www.admissions.fi. An applicant may choose up to four (4) options.

Applicants are qualified to apply if they have graduated from an upper secondary school or vocational school. Foreign applicants of the Turku University of Applied Sciences will be admitted on the basis of the entrance exam only. 

Entrance Exams

Entrance exam dates in Finland: 

  • DP in International Business on 24 April 2013 (Turku)
  • DP in Information Technologyon 25 April 2013 (Turku)
  • DP in Nursing 17 April 2013 (Salo)

The Degree Programme in Nursing will organise entrance exams only in Finland, Salo.

All applicants who have demonstrated their eligibility will be invited to the entrance exams.

Note that if the country you are from is not included in the countrylist, you will be invited to come to Finland to participate in the entrance exam.

Applying with a Finnish certificate

When applying with a Finnish certificate copies are not needed except when applicant has a Finnish competence based vocational qualification or competence based further vocational qualification. He/she must provide a copy of the original certificate to the admissions office of his or her first-choice polytechnic/UAS by the end of the application period.

The applicants’ language skills will be evaluated in the language test included in the entrance exam on a pass/fail basis. An applicant who has failed the language test is withdrawn from admission.

When applying for the Degree Programme in Nursing an applicant can be exempted from the language test, if he or she has provided a certificate of his or her language skills to the first-choice polytechnic/UAS by 22 Feb 2012 at 4.15 pm. 

Language Skills Requirement

The minimum language skills requirement is:

  • IELTS score academic level 6.0 or
  • TOEFL score 550 paper-based test/ 79-80 internet-based test or
  • skills level 4 in English in all parts (English communicative oral skills, reading comprehension and writing) in the National Certificate of Language Proficiency (www.oph.fi => Mobility => Testing Language Skills) or
  • Cambridge ESOL’s Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or
  • Cambridge ESOL’s Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) level C or
  • Pearson test of English (General test level 4 and Academic 51) or
  • or grade C in the Finnish matriculation examination in advanced level English (IB-examination grade 4 completed in Finland, Reifeprüfung -examination grade 7 completed in Finland or EB-examination grade 6.00-6.95).

Both TOEFL and IELTS test results are valid for two years. The National Certificate of Language Proficiency does not have a set date of validity. TOEFL score results are only accepted directly from the Educational Testing Service.

In addition, upper secondary school level education in English completed in Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia or New Zealand or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree completed in English in one of these countries, is also accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills.

Apply online

Please send copies of the required certificates by postal services by 22 Feb 2013 at 4.15 pm (note that scanned or faxed copies will not be accepted). Mark all your certificate copies with the ID code assigned to you in the online application.
