Turku Game Lab

Turku Game Lab is a joint working environment of University of Turku and Turku University of Applied Sciences which provides services in game education and development, using the latest technical developments in facilitating research, needs of the industry and decisive user experience. Turku Game Lab engages daily in multidisciplinary activities where students, staff and industry partners work on gaming applications, interface solutions and product development. The laboratory functions as a Living Lab, an innovation environment capable of both rapid prototyping and long-lasting development processes.

Turku Game Lab functions as a multidisciplinary field where students from both technical and artistic fields can meet and develop games together. Students have access to the newest technology, software and educational material along with the supervision of the experts in game development. Additionally, Turku Game Lab is a proud owner of Game History Collection, where the most important milestones in the history of gaming are displayed and available to use. Its modern counterpart is the demo room where one can research the games of today on variety of different gaming consoles.

Turku Game Lab has active cooperation with industry and other stake-holders. Turku Game Lab is currently participating in one EU Horizon 2020 flagship project called ACTIVAGE (380k€) and in three Tekes funded projects namely Fast Wow Effects Boosting SME Business (450 k€), Virtual Reality in Driving Inspection (330 k€), and Business Ecosystems in Effective Exergaming (590k€).
