ATTACH-U – Athletes’ Transition Tools for Achieving Horizons

We develop tools to support the transition of elite athletes into working life

ATTACH-U – Athletes’ Transition Tools for Achieving Horizons is an Erasmus+ Sport project supporting elite and former athletes in their transition beyond sport. The project responds to the need for more structured support when athletes face professional, social and psychological changes after elite sport, including identity reconstruction, career planning and the translation of sport-based skills into working-life contexts.

ATTACH-U develops practical transition tools, learning content, mentoring and peer-support models. The project creates and pilots three career pathways: entrepreneurship, coaching and B2B sales. Turku University of Applied Sciences coordinates the project and has a specific responsibility for developing and piloting the B2B sales pathway.

Target groups

The target groups include athletes approaching the end of their sporting careers, former athletes, coaches, sport organisations, education and training providers, employers and other stakeholders supporting athlete career transition. The project outputs include educational and training materials, digital and practical transition tools, events, publications and recommendations for sport federations and education providers. The long-term aim is to strengthen a European transition culture in which athletes’ competencies are recognised beyond their sporting careers.
