In the Better Paimionjoki 2 project, the water protection and environmental conservation work successfully initiated in the Paimionjoki river and its catchment area will be continued. The aim is to reduce nutrient loading into the Paimionjoki River and, ultimately, the Archipelago Sea. By improving the river’s ecological condition, the project also supports biodiversity and strengthens climate resilience in agriculture across the region.
The Better Paimionjoki 2 project focuses on implementing and promoting the measures of the Archipelago Sea Program in the Paimionjoki River watershed. The project aims to implement concrete water protection and management measures that simultaneously benefit water bodies and biodiversity, while also taking into account the area’s recreational use and local livelihoods. Key tools for achieving these goals include collaboration with landowners and various training and advisory sessions.
