The aim of the research project is to develop vehicle dismantling operations to meet EU regulatory requirements and implement them with sustainable circular economy business models. The project aims to grow the maintenance and repair business for car spare parts and increase safe material recycling. Dismantling methods are being developed to ensure that dismantling is commercially viable. In addition, the project focuses on utilizing data and digital solutions in vehicle lifecycle management and business development. Overall, the project supports the automotive industry’s transition to sustainability, enhances the reuse of car parts and material circulation, and promotes sustainable economic growth.
The aim of the project is to develop technologies and solutions for the handling of ELV (End-of-Life Vehicle) cars, enabling industrial-scale, highly automated dismantling, reuse of components, and more efficient material recycling. The goal of the project is to achieve the EU’s circular economy and recycling targets and to support the automotive industry’s transition towards a genuinely sustainable and circular business model, ensuring that ELV car handling is profitable in all its aspects.
The expertise and research results generated in the project can also be utilized in the development of dismantling operations for other vehicles, machinery, as well as products in the engineering and shipbuilding industries.
