The Haltuun Project focuses on improving water management within the Aurajoki river basin and reducing nutrient loading into the Aurajoki and Paattistenjoki rivers. While the project covers the entire Aurajoki catchment area, the main efforts are concentrated in the Paattistenjoki sub-basin.
In the Paattistenjoki area, the project will carry out a water quality Hot Spot assessment to identify variations in water quality across the catchment. The results will be used to prioritize water protection measures within the Paattistenjoki sub-basin.
The project implements water management and restoration actions based on the Hot Spot assessment results, existing research and studies, and a landowner-driven approach. Core tools for achieving the project’s goals include collaboration with landowners, mapping local experiences and needs, and organizing training and advisory events.
The project supports the long-term goals of the Archipelago Sea Program and lays the foundation for sustainable water management and nutrient load control in the region.
