ICE CLASS

We are exploring capabilities for Arctic shipping business cooperation
An icebreaker on the icy sea

The ICE CLASS project will assess the ability and willingness of maritime industry companies in Finland to engage in the implementation of the ICE initiative or in the wider Arctic maritime business, assess their international business readiness, open international cooperation with selected Canadian and US companies and universities.

The project will identify the structure and modus operandi for future cooperation among Finnish actors, identify training and skills needs and technical capabilities specifically related to Arctic shipping (design, construction, operation, safety/e.g. the IMO Polar Code imposes additional requirements for vessels intended to operate in the Arctic) and also explore international funding opportunities (e.g. EU funding) for deeper development.
