LOGISKILL – Increasing Adult Learning Participation in the Logistics Sector through Digital Innovation and Policy Experimentation

Supporting adult learning in the logistics sector

Learning new skills should be accessible alongside everyday work. LOGISKILL develops approaches that motivate adults in logistics to participate in training and help them continue learning. We combine mobile microlearning, immersive training environments and workplace support. Turku University of Applied Sciences contributes expertise in logistics and work-oriented development to this international collaboration.

Bringing learning closer to everyday work

The logistics sector is changing, yet training opportunities do not always reach workers who need support to develop their skills. LOGISKILL focuses on workers with lower skill levels or a need to strengthen their educational foundation. The project identifies skills gaps and barriers to participation and develops ways to improve motivation and support course completion.

Digital tools and safe practice

The project develops mobile microlearning content, a gamified app, a trainer-oriented learning management platform and XR/VR simulations. Immersive environments allow workers to practise workplace scenarios safely. A validated Logistics Skills & Motivation Inventory and an EQF/ESCO-aligned competence framework help connect learning opportunities with workers’ needs.

Evidence from international pilots

A two-stage pilot will test the combined approach in five countries with approximately 300 logistics workers. The project examines which solutions support participation and completion, for whom they work and under what conditions. The findings will help employers, trainers and higher education institutions develop work-oriented adult education and continuing learning.

Open resources for wider use

LOGISKILL will deliver a validated learning model, curricula, digital tools, immersive scenarios and evidence-based policy recommendations. Outputs will be released as Open Educational Resources to support adaptation across countries and labour-intensive sectors. The consortium brings together ten partners from seven countries and is coordinated by Bursa Technical University. Turku UAS participates through its Resilient Supply Chain Management and Logistics research group. Contact our project team to discuss collaboration opportunities.
