Revolutionizing Education and Nurturing Artificial Intelligence Skills for Sustainable Advancement in Cultural and Creative Industries – RenAIssance

Building AI skills for the future of design and media
Two hands facing each other, index fingers almost together. One of the hands is an artificial intelligence

The RenAIssance project responds to the growing need for artificial intelligence competencies in higher education, vocational education and training, and the creative sector. The project develops AI-related education to ensure that designers and communication professionals are better equipped to integrate artificial intelligence into their work processes and to strengthen their skills for future working environments.

RenAIssance is a four-year project funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ programme, aiming to strengthen artificial intelligence competences in the cultural and creative sectors. The rapid development of AI technologies is also transforming media and communication design work, increasing the need for new skills and continuously updated expertise.

The project is coordinated by the University of Naples Federico II and involves 12 organisations from eight EU countries. Key outcomes include AI-based training content aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF levels 3–8), work-life-oriented learning environments and simulations, as well as certification frameworks that support the EU’s green and digital transitions.

RenAIssance seeks to bridge the gap between education and the labour market in AI competences by developing scalable, certifiable training models. The project particularly strengthens communication and design skills within the creative industries, including generative design, automation, and data-driven practices. Through these advances, new opportunities emerge for the creative and cultural sectors to foster innovation and enhance their competitiveness.
