The SignalSafe project develops and pilots solutions to improve the reliability, safety, and efficiency of digital maritime navigation, with a focus on the Turku Archipelago and the Baltic Sea region. The project utilizes a comprehensive test platform developed by Turku University of Applied Sciences, including an electric test vessel, drones, and a remote operation center. Pilots conducted in collaboration with companies enable real-world testing of new solutions.

The project addresses key challenges such as monitoring GNSS signal disruptions, real-time tracking of communication quality, and identifying and managing cybersecurity threats. These technologies are essential for the safe operation of remotely controlled and autonomous vessels.

Pilots conducted in collaboration with companies enable real-world testing of new solutions. Our data platform will also be developed to support real-time sharing of situational awareness and environmental monitoring data.

SignalSafe strengthens the competitiveness of the maritime industry in Southwest Finland and promotes sustainable development. The project is integrated into national and international networks, providing SMEs with access to top-tier expertise and testing environments. All results are published openly to support regional innovation, education, and new business opportunities.
