The Smart Inclusion: AI and Talent Development in Education project aims to promote inclusive education for gifted and high-potential students by strengthening teachers’ capacity to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in an ethical and pedagogically meaningful way to identify students’ strengths, differentiate instruction, and support personalised learning pathways in Finland, Estonia, and Latvia.
The project is based on the observation that inclusive education often focuses on students who have learning challenges or special support needs. However, gifted students also need individualized support so that their potential can be recognized and developed.
In many situations, teachers are unable to provide systematic, individualized instruction to gifted students due to time constraints, large class sizes, and a lack of materials designed for differentiated instruction.
The project investigates how artificial intelligence, when combined with modern pedagogical practices and professional collaboration, can help teachers identify students’ potential, differentiate instruction, and create personalized learning paths.
The goal is
- strengthen the competence of teachers and school administrators in the responsible, ethical, and pedagogically appropriate use of artificial intelligence
- identify and support gifted students as part of an inclusive education system
- develop practical education and training models for use in schools
- develop research-based recommendations for the responsible use of artificial intelligence in education
