The aim of the Sport Clubs as Creators of Wellbeing (Uvira) project is to improve the knowledge and operational capacity of sports clubs in the region of Varsin Hyvä and to build, together with the sports clubs, a development process that will help strengthen the economic capacity of the clubs in particular and increase their strategic attractiveness as partners for businesses and public administrations.
The Sports Clubs as Builders of Well-Being (Uvira) project aims to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and operational capacity of sports clubs in the Varsin Hyvä region. The project runs from 1 November 2024 to 30 April 2026 and is coordinated by Turku University of Applied Sciences.
Key objectives:
- Enhance the vitality of sports clubs by developing their expertise in marketing, sales, administration, finance, communication, and strategy.
- Create new operational models and partnerships with businesses, public authorities, and the third sector.
- Support sports clubs in strengthening regional social capital and identity.
- Disseminate knowledge and practices generated within the project to clubs, companies, and third-sector organizations.
- Promote healthy lifestyles, foster self-esteem, and help prevent social problems.
Activities:
The project includes eight preparatory online meetings, eight workshops, three open workshops, an international benchmarking visit, baseline and final interviews, and a stakeholder survey. Sports clubs will also receive continuous sparring for their own development goals.
Expected outcomes:
The project seeks to create a win-win situation between sports clubs and their stakeholders. It will
- provide clubs and communities with new knowledge and understanding of stakeholder collaboration
- strengthen regional social capital and community vitality, and
- disseminate best practices while helping to prevent bottlenecks typical in networked activities.
The beneficiaries include all sports clubs and their members in the Varsin Hyvä region.
