TourEdu is a 36-month Erasmus+ cooperation project (2025-2028) between Norway, Finland, Denmark and Portugal. It addresses the skills gap and declining student numbers in tourism by working with the industry to develop flexible, inclusive and work-based learning pathways.
The project responds to the green, digital, social and cultural transformation of the tourism sector. The aim is to strengthen the sector’s skills, attractiveness and sustainability by developing future job and skills profiles and flexible lifelong learning solutions.
The project will reform tourism education programmes in partnership with destination marketing organisations, tourism businesses and local communities.
The project will start with a systematic literature review of existing criteria and descriptions of competences in the tourism sector, taking into account the diversity of languages and cultures. This research will be used to create forward-looking job profiles for key occupations in the sector.
In addition, the project will:
- analysing changing consumer and business demand
- responding to the needs of sustainable and regenerative tourism
- identify the needs and values of future tourism workers
Knowledge is produced through co-creation with local communities, businesses and the social partners. The results will be used to develop alternative learning pathways and stackable micro-degrees.
