Occupational Safety Card Training

What will you learn?

The Occupational Safety Card training is carried out in accordance with the objectives set by the Centre for Occupational Safety. The training may only be provided by a course instructor who has completed the required qualification.
The objectives of the training are:

To know the principles of occupational safety and health at a shared workplace
To be able to identify hazards and workload factors in work
To understand the principles of safe and healthy working
To understand the significance of human behavior for occupational safety

After participating in the training and successfully passing the exam, the student will receive an electronic Occupational Safety Card (mobiili.korttitieto.fi). The student may order a physical card at their own expense from mobiili.korttitieto.fi.

What do the studies include?

The Occupational Safety Card training is carried out in a hybrid format so that the student must successfully complete the four module assignments on the learning platform (ItsLearning) before the face-to-face session.
The face-to-face session will be announced separately, and its duration is four hours. The attendance requirement is 100%.

Students will complete the Finnish Occupational Safety Card training. The course begins with an independent online module, followed by a contact teaching (fase-to-face) session (4 hours) that includes an exam. After successfully completing the course, the student will receive the Occupational Safety Card from The Centre for Occupational Safety, which is valid for 5 years.

The card is a mobile card, and the information about the Occupational Safety Card (name, date of birth, and card validity) will be published on The Centre for Occupational Safety’s website. The student must notify The Centre for Occupational Safety if they do not wish for their information to be displayed online.

After completing the course, the student
– is aware of the central issues of occupational safety in the shared workplace
– knows the essential requirements of industrial occupational safety and the realization of the company’s business environment.
– is able to apply the principles of occupational safety and health in one´s own work

– safe workday in the shared workplace
– operating in accident situations.

The second part, the in person (face-to-face) session, will be held on 25 March 2026 from 13:00 to 17:00 at the Kupittaa Campus in room EDU_2030.
Students must register for the training in Peppi, and only the first 30 registered participants will be accepted. The card fee is €18.

Who is the course suitable for?

Open UAS courses are open to everyone. Open UAS courses are selections from Bachelor’s and Master’s degree program curricula, and you’ll usually study in the same group as degree students. 

When you enroll, you will be asked to authenticate yourself before you can access the enrolment form. You will need Finnish online banking credentials or a mobile certificate.

There may be prerequisites for participation on individual courses. You can find information on required previous studies or know-how in the course details on our study guide, see the link for course details above. Please note that you are responsible for making sure that you have the skills and know-how required for participation.  

To participate on Master’s level courses, you must have completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education degree in Finland or abroad.

Open UAS offers individual courses in both Finnish and in English. Please note that you must have sufficient language skills to take part in Open UAS studies. Generally, language skills at level B1 or above are recommended for participating in higher education. Some study options may have specific language skill requirements. 

Open UAS study fee

Open UAS studies are subject to a study fee. Individual courses usually cost 15 € per ECTS credit. Read more about study fees.

Starting the studies

Once you have enrolled in an Open UAS course, you will receive an email confirming your enrollment and payment instructions. Your registration will be accepted once the payment has been completed.
