More than 5000 applicants to Turku University of Applied Sciences in the autumn’s joint application

The autumn joint application for higher education ended on 10 September. Turku University of Applied Sciences was the third largest university of applied sciences in terms of the number of applicants. According to preliminary data, there were a total of 5174 applicants to Turku University of Applied Sciences  and a total of  25,771 in the joint application nationwide.

“Turku University of Applied Sciences and Turku as a student city are clearly interesting study options. After the Helsinki Metropolitan area, we were a clear second in the number of applicants. It was also interesting to see that there is still interest from abroad to study with us, even though the conditions have been tightened in recent years”, Rector Vesa Taatila comments.

Turku University of Applied Sciences offered 756 study places in different fields. There are a total of 38 study options, of which 25 are degree programmes leading to a bachelor’s degree and 13 are leading to a master’s degree.

Applicants were most interested in education in the health and social services sector and business

At Turku University of Applied Sciences, the highest number of applicants were for the Social Services, Emergency care and the part-time Implementation of Physiotherapy.

The most attractive degree programme was the Bachelor of Business Administration, for which there were 17 primary applicants per study place. Of the master’s degrees, applicants were most interested in the degree programme Management and Leadership in Health Care.

Turku University of Applied Sciences’ new degree programmes this autumn, part-time implementation of Construction Manager (Bachelor’s Degree Programme) and Leadership and Work Community Management (Master’s Degree Programme), both attracted more than 200 applicants.

In bachelor’s degrees, the majority of admissions are made on the basis of certificate-based admissions for matriculation examinations and vocational upper secondary qualifications, as well as on the basis of a bachelor’s entrance examination. In master’s degree programmes, admissions to the majority of study options are made on the basis of the average grade of a bachelor’s degree or on the basis of an admission task. Student admissions in English-language degree programmes are made on the basis of certificate-based admissions or the results of international tests.

The results of certificate-based admissions will be published to applicants by 16.10.2026 at the latest, and the results of other admissions by 19.11.2026 at the latest. New students’ studies will begin in January 2027.
