Adaptive Intelligence for State-Aware Industrial Optimization (ADINO)

Developing adaptive intelligence for smart manufacturing industry
Project logo

ADINO develops adaptive artificial intelligence that understands the state of industrial systems in real time and optimizes their performance. The project combines data from machines, sensors, and humans to create predictive and cost-efficient production environments. Together with Finnish and international partners, ADINO builds new methods for human-centric AI that enhances decision-making, safety, and sustainability in manufacturing.

Real time AI-based solutions for SME industry

We are creating adaptive artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that understand the state of industrial systems and optimize their performance in real time. By combining sensor data, digital twins, and human expertise, ADINO aims to make Finnish manufacturing more efficient, sustainable, and human-centric.

Modern industry still struggles with fragmented data, limited situational awareness, and inefficient resource flows. ADINO introduces state-aware intelligence that perceives the entire production environment — machines, materials, energy, and people — and continuously adapts decisions to changing conditions. This approach enables predictive, flexible, and secure operations that strengthen industrial resilience and competitiveness.

In ADINO we develop

  • Adaptive AI models that learn from multimodal data (sensors, vision, audio, process logs) for prediction, optimization, and orchestration.
  • Secure data integration and digital twins connecting legacy and modern production systems.
  • Human-centric interfaces that guide operators, enhance decision-making, and ensure safety and acceptance.
  • AI-driven resource-flow optimization improving throughput and reducing energy consumption across manufacturing lines and internal logistics.

Industrial pilots

We will run several pilots that will validate the technology in authentic industrial environments and produces generalizable methods for Finnish SMEs.

We are running the following pilots:

  1. Shop-floor resource tracking – real-time visibility of materials, workforce, and bottlenecks.
  2. Process and machinery monitoring – predictive maintenance, energy-aware operation, anomaly detection.
  3. Worker augmentation – intuitive task guidance, knowledge transfer, and safe human-robot collaboration.
