Turku Music Academy Sello Ensemble, Teemu Mastovaara, Johanna Jaakkola, Anni Manninen and Sakari Kivinen, gave a consert in International Youth Concert in Japan in February 2012. The concert trip was suppprted by Turku Cultural Capital 2011.

In the Degree Programme in Music (Turku Music Academy) the studies are focused on acquiring and developing the skills and knowledge needed in performing Western art music. This objective is supported by general studies in music in such a way that the student will have as much time as possible for daily work on their own instrument.

In addition to regular weekly progressing studies, a significant part of the studies are implemented in various productions which are divided into effective intensive periods. During the academic year the orchestra of Turku Music Academy has two periods in which the orchestra is lead by renowned conductors. In addition, several chamber orchestra periods are implemented during the academic year. Playing in chamber music ensembles is an integral part of studies at Turku Music Academy.

In opera productions the resources of degree programmes of the entire Arts Academy, Turku Conservatory and theatres in Turku are often joined together in large scale co-operation productions. The productions are implemented professionally with the objective of creating artistically uncompromised and high quality performances of music from different periods in authentic style. In performances of contemporary music we work closely together with both Finnish and foreign composers.

Numerous performance events in inspiring concert venues make up a significant addition to the studies. The students are also offered opportunities to perform solo during their studies, both as soloists for the Music Academy orchestra and in the annual Young Soloists concert where students can perform as soloists for the Turku Philharmonic.

Internationality is a natural part of music studies. Turku Music Academy has ERASMUS exchange agreements with several European music academies. Foreign exchange studies, the foreign exchange students at the Academy and the teachers of Master classes enrich the studies in an important way, and create opportunities for increasingly deepened international collaboration.

The Degree Programme in Music has two specialisations: Music Pedagogue and Musician.
